Purpose
The
office of Executive Director is designed to
carry out the chief executing functions of the
organisation and is entrusted with fulfilling
the organisation's vision and mission.
Under
the direction of the Board of Governors, this
office captains the JAS mandate by managing
the organisation's strategic direction and the
domestic affairs that are necessary to take
it there. The Executive Director is also responsible
for supervising the other department Directors
and the Huamn Resources Officer and chairs the
Executive Committee at JAS.

Activities
Since
assuming office, Novlet Reid has concentrated
on the following as her general mission:-
- Diversifying
and stabilizing the funding base of JAS so
as to ensure greater sustainability.

Developing
and guiding new portfolios within the organisation
whose focus is organisational development
and fundraising
-
Developing
the organisation's two fold role of service
delivery to target groups and advocacy for
those groups in Jamaica and the Caribbean.

Marketing
the organisation as a consulting agency
based on its history and expertise
- Developing
the organisation as an HIV/AIDS research,
resource and training centre
- Establishing
strategic partnerships to facilitate the growth
and development of the organisation
- Developing
the human resources of JAS.
- Developing
the internal management systems of the organisation.
- Strengthening
service delivery in collaboration with program
Directors and line staff.
These
are captured in specific activities such as:-
- Interfacing
with international donors and other interested
parties
- Making
local and overseas presentations
- Supervising
of the JAS directors
- Establishing
collaborative ventures with related organisations
- Strategising
new directions in which to move the organisation
