Life's Work

Life's Work is an income-generating / work therapy project for people living with HIV/AIDS (PLWHA). It has been in operation since May of 1996 and provides clients with employment and support through the making and selling of candles, cards, and soap.

The programme was started in response to the many PLWHA who had lost their job or were unable to find work as a result of their HIV status. Many had nothing to do and were feeling unproductive and depressed.

Participants in the project now report feeling better about themselves, and they are able to afford medical prescriptions which brings about better overall health. Additionally, members of the wider community have become sensitised to the issues faced by PLWHA through interaction with our group
